JANE’S DOULA SERVICES

Supporting mums, birth partners and babies throughout pregnancy, labour and birth

Jane has such a friendly, open, caring nature that we knew we were in good hands from our first phone contact. Our Hypnobirthing sessions together were great and left us both feeling very empowered. Jane was a calm and nurturing presence throughout our labour, gently coaching me through when I thought I wasn’t going to manage. To have her at the birth truly felt like an honour. Our birth was a magical healing experience for us. Our son is such a calm and relaxed baby and I believe this is a result of his calm and relaxed birth. Jane is a very special lady. Words can’t actually express the gratitude we feel.

What is a Doula?

A Doula is a knowledgeable companion that supports the birth family through labour, birth and postpartum care. The desire to have a Doula is becoming a popular choice as vital elements of care have been lost from the process of childbirth. Stretched resources mean there often isn’t continuity in providing nurturing care for the new mother, to guide by experience and help with the practicalities that need to be performed before, during and after a woman gives birth to her baby.

Benefits of a Doula

Continuous support research shows that in having a Doula at your birth, can:

  • Shorten your labour by an average of 2 hours

  • Reduce the risk of having a cesarean section by 50%

  • Reduce the risk of needing ventouse or forceps assisted delivery by 30%

  • Reduce the need for pain medication

  • Reduce anxiety for both mum and birth partner

  • Help birth partners support with confidence

  • Increase success in breastfeeding

  • Reduce the risk of postnatal depression (PND)

  • Increase mother-baby bonding
