CLOSING THE BONES- POSTNATAL CEREMONY & MASSAGE

Closing The Bones is a special postnatal ritual for mothers after childbirth. It is also a massage with warming and nurturing use of a rebozo, shawl or scarf.

It supports a woman's RECOVERY after childbirth, CELEBRATES the amazing abilities of her body, creates a moment of STILLNESS, of meditative PEACE and REFLECTION in the rollercoaster of emotions of new motherhood.

It is also used in other circumstances.

Preparation

The room is prepared using a rainbow of rebozos and shawls. The air is cleansed with smudging as the sweet aroma of palo santo fills the room.

Rock & Relax

First I rock your hips for a while using a rebozo or other scarf or shawl.

Then I massage your abdomen and hips, using a special warming oil, and we follow a specific sequence of movements designed to loosen and relax you.

I then rock your pelvis some more with the rebozo

Full Body Wrap

Finally I wrap your hips, or wrap you from your head to your toes and cover you with a blanket to keep you nice and warm.

I may read a poem or sing a song, or simply rest my hands on your body, whilst you enjoy a moment of stillness.

You then relax as I prepare you a drink.
